GET YOUR BUSINESS BACK TO WORK

We are delighted to bring you this weekly issue of our newsletter. It won’t be long before we will be seeing you all in person. We plan a return to a new dedicated office space at Habitat in July. This is so we can see you all and coach safely within agreed guidelines. You also may wish to take a look at how to create a safe COVID workspace this is different for each industry. Take a look at how you can keep workers, visitors and customers safe.  Next week, there will be no newsletter as we will be moving to bi-weekly to concentrate on coaching our clients.

In this issue:

  • $10,000 grant – deadline extended!
  • Coaching support snapshot
  • Free or low-cost training

You can book an hour consultancy slot anytime.

APPLY FOR THE $10,000 GRANT

Up to $10,000 is available to ease financial pressure on eligible small businesses and non-profits who have experienced 75% turnover decline caused by COVID-19.

Please note new industries have been added since the grant launched. Grant recipients may be audited in the future. Applications close 30 June 2020.

☝️ SMEs to miss out on tax sweetener due to unawareness

Over one-third of Aussie small and medium enterprises (SMEs) could miss out on the temporarily enlarged instant asset write-off, simply because they are unaware of it.  On 12 March 2020, the government lifted the limit of the instant asset write-off from $30,000 to $150,000 and expanded eligibility to include businesses with annual turnover below $500 million, up from a previous $50 million, until 30 June.

However, new research by SME lender OnDeck Australia has confirmed that some 35 per cent of Aussie SMEs are not familiar with the tax savings. According to the ATO, the new threshold of $150,000 applies for a limited time only for depreciating assets first used or installed ready for use between 12 March 2020 and 30 June 2020. After 30 June 2020, the threshold will reduce to $1,000. While motor vehicles will be eligible assets, the car cost limit of $57,581 for 2019–20 will still apply to cap deductions for cars, RSM reminded 🚘
